Parkwood is situated in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg in between two main arteries named Smut Avenue and Oxford Road, each allowing access to almost anywhere in northern Johannesburg. Although close to two main roads, the suburb remains quiet and secure. The neighbourhood streets are framed with vibrant purple jacaranda trees and most homes are double-storey houses, townhouses and a few sectional title buildings. Just around the corner is Zoo Lake, which has always been the go-to natural outdoor venue for some fresh air and fun. There are shady trees and plenty of space for families to enjoy. Small children with unlimited energy, joggers and dog walkers appreciate the meandering trails and open grassy lawns. It takes roughly two hours to walk around this picturesque man-made lake which is situated virtually opposite the Johannesburg Zoo. The Zoo Lake sports club is close to the lake and has amenities like tennis courts, a restaurant and a popular pub. Parkwood has great educational facilities in the vicinity, namely; Little Ashford Preschool, Nanny Poppins Children, Master Math and Master Science and the Goethe Institute South Africa.
