Rietfontein is an older, more established town situated to the north of Pretoria’s main business district, making it a convenient option for people working in the CBD. The beautiful Magaliesberg Mountains are in the distance. Besides the usual taxi and bus routes, the Deerness train station is located in Rietfontein. Residents visit the Rietfontein Pavilion Centre, the Jacaranda Centre and Waverley Plaza for their shopping needs. Families with younger children have a choice of two schools in the area; Wonderboom South Primary School and Rietfontein Noord Primary School. There are also two hospitals in Rietfontein that service the residents, namely; Netcare Moot Hospital and Steve Biko Hospital.
