Description
Novel Rustic Charming
One of the joys of Irene Proper living is that no home is like any other – and this home
epitomises that fact. It displays unique features.
It is very pretty to look at with the steep pitch of the thatch roof and the odd
levels where upstairs windows jut out from the thatch – suggesting unusual interior.
Architect Roberta Sandenbergh of Halfway House designed the home on 5 levels that
sweep around a 20 meter high central chimney. From the top of this focal point
feature, the roof beams fan out to encompass all the rooms in the home.
There is an entrance hall, lounge, dining room, fireplace, kitchen and scullery . There is
a hatch opening from the kitchen to the dining room and also sliding doors opening
from the dining room out to the pool patio. The kitchen has a cellar.
There is a self contained flatlet – large open plan lounge cum bedroom with plentiful
cupboards and separate kitchen and bathroom.
Back to the main house, up some stairs there is a large TV room or family room – with
bookshelves and cupboards. In the house there are 3 or 4 bedrooms depending on
requirements.
The first bedroom up the stairs is enclosed and next door has a bathroom with bath
and toilet. Up some stairs there is another bedroom or a study – has cupboards and
swivel windows. Then up a few more stairs there is the main bedroom which is
ensuite with full bathroom and a dressing room.
There is also an attic loft or playroom.
The swimming pool is fibre glass and redone about 5 years ago.
There are several skylights in the house and the fireplace that is totally protected all the
way up the long chimney.
There is a double lockable garage.
The garden sweeps around the home and is very pretty with plenty of lovely trees.
The Irene Landowners Association monthly fee ensures the safety of Irene
homeowners together with the security company EBS and the Secmed medical
emergency service.
