Centurion is situated on the Highveld and is well positioned to provide easy access to both Johannesburg and Pretoria via the Ben Schoeman Highway as well as great accessibility to the OR Tambo airport (R21) and Lanseria airport (R28). The tranquil, tree-lined Hennops River flows through the heart of Centurion and within close proximity are Rietvlei and Roodeplaat Dam Nature Reserves. These natural spectacles create a lovely, calm contrast to this vibrant, robust so called mini-city. The local nature reserves encourage game viewing, hiking, bird watching and horse riding, or kayaking and sailing on the dam. Centurion’s strategic position makes indulging in all manner of entertainment that much easier. If golf is your game then play a round at Irene Country Club or Centurion Country Club, just around the corner. World-class schools, buzzing shopping malls, top-notch restaurants and bars, and reliable hospitals are all within reach. For the hard working go-getters and their families, there are multiple security Estates, smallholdings, and security complexes available.
With its heart located at the intersection of the N1 and N14 freeways, Centurion lies between Pretoria and Midrand in Gauteng. In 1964, City Council status was granted to Lyttleton, by combining the areas of Doornkloof, Irene and Lyttleton. Lyttleton was renamed Verwoerdburg in 1967, one year after the assassination of former South African Prime Minister Hendrik Verwoerd. The areas Clubview, Eldoraigne, Wierdapark, Kloofsig, Zwartkop and extensions were later added to Verwoerdburg.
